Welcome to Great Basin Kennel

Thank you for visiting Great Basin Kennel. We hunt, compete and breed the highest class bird dogs in Nevada. We have acquired some of the finest Elhew bred pointers, as well as the nation's top German Shorthair lines, including Western Pride, Rawhide's Clown, Dunfar, and Snip's Ticked Off.

We believe in the Elhew line, as their biddibility is world renowned. We are ever so grateful to Mr. Bob Wehle for developing this fantastic line of dogs. We are not kennel blind though, as we do purge and upgrade our lines from time to time, and believe in outcrossing to Fiddler and Miller bred bird dogs.

Our Shorthairs can run and find birds with any breed of bird dog. We will not tolerate a run off, but likewise bootlickers serve us no purpose. We are extremely proud of our dogs, as they have proven themselves time and time again in the field. Take a look around, and by all means, call us to talk about bird dogs!

BREAKING NEWS

STARTED AND BROKE DOGS FOR SALE Started son of RU Ch. CHIKI Dancing Horse out of a daughter of Chairman ofthe Board.  We broke his littermate and were so impressed that we acquired Top Gun.  For more information about this excellent charge, click here. Rare opportunity to own broke son of Chairman ofthe Board.  Bucky didn't have enough run to compete in the horseback stakes, and that's what we kept him for.  Therefore, we are now offering Bucky for sale.  Click here his pedigree and photographs.  UPCOMING LITTERS We are please to announce two summer litters by oustanding males.    Litter 1:   Ch Erin's Southern Pride x Maddie due July 24, 2008.  Ch. Erin's Southern Pride is from the winning breeding program of Sean Derrig.  I seen him win his first championship at the Arizona Shooting Dog Championship with several champions competing.  He has gone on to compete (and win championships) under Randy Anderson's whistle in the all age ranks.   Maddie was recently acquired from Mr. Matt Stuckey of Moundridge, Kansas.  Maddie is a daughter of Elhew Seahorse out of a Elhew Discovery x Hanna's Elhew Lou female.  I tried to buy a pup from Maddie's litter when it was first whelped but was too late.  Luckily, we were able to acquire Maddie down the line.  I expect this litter to produce nothing but class pups capable of satisfying the most discriminating sportsperson.  Litter 2: Elite Elhew Poker x  Azucar due August 29, 2008.  Poker is a classy big running son of Ch. Super Express William, one of the few linebred Elhews ever to run in the National Championship.  Before he died, we bred Azucar to Super Express William and were extremely pleased with the results.  One of their daughters is in Sheldon Twer's derby string.  It was an easy decision to go to one of his winning sons.  Azucar is a no nonsense wild bird dog who throws her toughness and bird finding ability into her pups.  She is by Elhew Sea Gazer and Chasing Joe's Shadow, a daughter of Joe Shadow.  Contact CG at (702) 813-0822 for more information on these litters.      *Notes from Robin Gates' Summer Camp*       "Clarence,            Enclosed photo of is a photo of Bucky.  He's really making a nice dog, still young but shows the potential.  He finds alot of birds and is starting to hold good.  He's running at shooting dog range now, but could as he gets older open up some more.  Overall, a very nice pup......                                                                     Thanks,                                                                     Robin"
